Dahlia Themed Baby Shower

I hosted a baby shower for my sister-in-law who was expecting a little girl who she planned to name Dalia. I decided make the theme based on the Dahlia flower. My first inspiration was this precious bib I found on esty.

On etsy again, I found invitations that also incorporated the dahlia theme and picked up the colors from the bib.

My sister-in-law is allergic to many flowers so  I had to minimize the use of fresh flowers. I made these flower arrangements to line-up on the fireplace mantel. I took these vases with pink, turquoise, and lime green  mosaic glass and cut artificial bear grass for each one. Since dahlias were not in season at the time of this shower, I found large spider mums and had my florist paint each one in a vibrant pink.

Favors were chocolates from a local candy store put in a simple white box and tied with lime green or turquoise ribbon and various shades of pink tissue paper flower.

Joanne from Brendina Designs made this beautiful diaper cake.

A display of cupcakes with pink dahlia toppers was part of the dessert display.

Pink tissue flowers were hung from the ceiling

Fancy Nancy Party

My friend, Laura wanted to have a Fancy Nancy Party for her daughter's 3rd birthday. I was very happy to help her plan this party. Being a girly-girl myself, I loved the idea of adding sparkle and and jewels to many aspects of the party. We turned Laura's dining room into a room perfect for her daughter who like me, loves things that sparkle. It truly was a "fancy" party. The pictures of the party were taken by Laura herself. She has such a gift with the camera; her pictures are beautiful. Thanks, Laura, for including me in the planning!

I made these tulle pom poms and sprayed them with a glitter spray. I added butterflies to add additional glitz.

Each place setting had a purple ruffled charger, tiara, jeweled utensils and a boa. Laura made placecards for each child adorned with jewels.

A Fancy Nancy birthday banner hung in the doorway of the dining room.

Large pink nylon butterflies were also hung from the ceiling for added dimension and design.

A flowerpot with swirl lollipops was the centerpiece of the table. Lavender jeweled flower petals were spread over the table.

A tulle border was put around the tablecloth and also sprayed with glitter.
