Queen For a Day - Royal Birthday Party

My mother-in-law recently turned 60. Known as "The Queen" of the family, my sister-in-law and I set out to design a party that incorporated all of her favorite things: jewels, crowns, and plenty of sparkle!

We held a "coronation" ceremony complete with a crown and scepter.

Presents fit for a queen!

The cocktail tables had hurricane vases with floating candles, votive candles adorned with jewels, and rose petals.

All of the stationary was designed by Laralee Lewis.

This beautiful cake was made by Konditor Meister.

All of the tables has floating candles in hurricane vases and diamond wrapped vases with hydrangeas and peonies. We used a champagne sequin table runner and gold chargers.

The King and Queen of the day had these beautiful signs at their seats, marking their chairs.

Holiday Mantel

Last year, I went with a nontraditional purple and silver theme for my mantel and holiday table. This year, I wanted to use more traditional colors in my home and focused on whites and metallic colors for the mantel.

I used silver mosaic goblet candle holders, a feather wreath hung with "diamond" ribbon and a rhinestone embellished feather tree.

I placed a silver leaf garland over a silver scarf and added some feather ornaments. A simple mantel to go with both my glam holiday tablescape and "bling" Christmas tree!

Glam Holiday Tablescape

For my holiday tablescape this year, I wanted to use metallic colors to create a glamorous tablescape. Last year I used a nontraditional color palate for my Winter Wonderland tablescape and I wanted to go back to simple and elegant colors this year. My inspiration came from gold sequin fabric that I used for the tablecloth and gold and silver plates from Crate and Barrel . This is a table that is appropriate for Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year's. These beautiful pictures were taken by my very talented friend, Laura.

I bought this beautiful potted manzanita tree and draped strands of crystals from it's branches. The tree is lighted which only illuminated more light.

I used some elements that I brought into my winter wonderland tablescape last year including the snow globe place card holders and ornament picks. This year, I designed place cards in platinum as well as tags in a chevron pattern to add to the stems of wine glasses.

I displayed white rose balls in silver and gold mercury glass vases.

I draped the middle of the table with gold, bronze, and silver layered tinsel. Metallic ornaments were wired   to the tinsel.

I kept the place setting simple. With simple platinum napkins, silver chargers, so the silver and gold dinner plates would "pop".

 Happy Holidays!!!
